New Department of Public Health dashboard brings local overdose data to Connecticut communities

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) today launched the Report on Connecticut Unintentional Overdose Deaths. This new online dashboard shows local data on deaths caused by drug overdoses. It is updated each month. People can view data for the state, their town, or their region and see how patterns change over time.

The DPH Injury and Violence Surveillance team created the dashboard. It can help local leaders, health workers, and community groups understand what is happening and plan ways to prevent overdose deaths.

"Good local data can help save lives," said DPH Commissioner Manisha Juthani, MD. "This dashboard gives towns and community groups current information they can use to act. Every number stands for a person, a family, and a community. We hope this tool helps our partners keep people safe and connect them with care."

What You Can Find

  • New data each month.
  • Charts that let you choose the information you want to see.
  • Data by town and by County Equivalent Planning Region, which are groups of nearby towns used for planning.
  • Changes over time, so users can spot new patterns.

How the Dashboard Can Help

  • See overdose patterns across Connecticut and in your area.
  • Learn which groups and places are most affected.
  • Plan prevention work based on local needs.
  • Share clear, current information with community partners.

Who May Use It

The dashboard is open to the public. It may be useful for:

  • Local health departments and health workers.
  • Community groups and programs that help reduce the harms caused by drug use.
  • Town leaders and regional planners.
